Description: Tokyo: Seibundo Shinkosha, 1958. First edition. Pp. (4), 93; 84 full page color plates, 1 text-figure. Full black leather; lettered in white on the spine and front cover, in green decorated stiff card slipcase, 12mo (6 x 4.25 inches; 152 x 107 mm). This is a field guide in the same style as the Roger Tory Peterson field guides. The text is in Japanese with Latin names and common names in English used throughout. Inscribed by the author to Professor Hartshorne, dated September 1, 1958 in both English and Japanese. Charles Hartshorne was a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Chicago, Emory University and the University of Texas. A near fine copy in an edge worn but very good slipcase..
