The Persian Minister to England is said to have remonstrated in behalf of his Government against its satire and plain speaking. The text of this latest reprint follows that of the second edition of 1824 as revised by Morier. The opening "Letter of Peregrine Persic" follows the more complete text of the first edition but makes use also of minor alterations made subsequently by Morier. The footnotes are from the edition of 1824 and of 1835. The cover has a wrap-around illustration; the spine is darkened as is part of the front and back. The spine bottom edge and bottom corners show light edgewear. The cloth binding is fine. The pages are tanned around the edges, but the beautiful jewel-tone colors of illustrations remain vibrant.
