A very nice but incomplete set of this popular title. Includes extensive narrative about each plate. Beautiful plates of the major players in British history. All volumes are museum ex-lib. with donation book plate inside each volume and small, gilt number on lower spine of each volume. Condition as follows, sort of by volume. Vol. I: Front cover/spine pulled away from text block but fully attached to back cover. Some water marks to tops of a few pages and plates. Text block tight and otherwise clean; Vols. 2, 6 through 9: all VG, clean and tight with only minor (if any) edge wear to covers and possibly a hint of sunning to some page edges; Vol. 3: Stain on lower front cover and a few plates; o/w clean and tight; Vol. 10: VG but for heavy foxing on one plate (Rachael Wriothesley) and lower inch of spine torn but present; Vol. 11: VG interior but back cover detached (and present); Vol. 12: VG but for loosening front hinge.
