Description: Le Roy, NY, Gazette News Company, 1928. First Edition. Original Wraps. Gray wraps. 32 pp. With black and white photos throughout. A pamphlet issued in commemoration of opening festivities at the Donald Woodward Airport in Le Roy, New York. Now abandoned, the airport was established and operated by Donald Woodward, spanning 150 acres of farmland. Woodward purchased the plane 'Friendship,' which was the plane used by Amelia Earhart to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and used this and several others as part of his fleet. This pamphlet contains several photos of the 'Friendship,' as well as a few photos of other planes, including a Loening Amphibian. Also of note are biographies, with photos, of the various pilots employed by Woodward. This includes Russell Holderman-a member of the Aviation Hall of Fame and holder of the world's loop record for a glider; Louis Edward Gordon- a member of Amelia Earhart's crew that crossed the Atlantic; Otto Enderton, Roy E. Du Val, Eddie Stafford, and Harold A. McKay. The pamphlet also provides an overiew and plans of the airport, as well as a short history of aviation and a history of 'Friendship.' GOOD+ condition. Very minor soiling to the wraps, with slight staining to the upper rear corner. Minor fading. Light curling at the corners. Staples rusted, with minor staining in the interior gutters. Two small dampstains at the upper fore edge. One page becoming detached and very loose. Good .
