Near fine/very good. Mild jacket edgewear and light age toning, with a few tiny edge chips. Second trade edition (and first single-volume edition) of this Indian fighter and railroad executive's memoir (after 1914 two-volume private publication by The Wistar Institute of Anatomy and Biology in Philadelphia), described on front jacket panel as "A Chronicle of Lusty Adventure Out of Our Pioneer Past." Howes describes this as "Largely devoted to the opening and development of the far West from 1849 to 1860, in which Wistar played a conspicuous part before achieving fame and fortune in Pennsylvania," Wheat as a "Significant and engaging narrative by a man of great native attainments."
