Front flyleaf boldly inscribed and signed by the author large and bold in black ink: "To the Stuhrs / with warm regards, / Charles Williams." Precious little is known of Charles Wilbur Williams (1917-92), whose output seems to consist of this title and a popular 1955 title "The Rolling Pin," another children's fantasy narrated by Uncle Fritz and involving a dog that paints and a frog that sings opera. Very uncommon. .
