Description: British prime minister Winston Churchill's grandfather was this nobleman, a conservative politician and Member of Parliament from Woodstock who succeeded to the title in 1857. "Signature to the Memorial / in favour of Dr Rumsey / Marlborough" penned large and bold in brown ink on a 6½" X 4" sheet. Very good. Quite minor folds, else bright and nice. The question of this "Memorial" to which Marlborough apparently lent his support and the identity of "Dr Rumsey" remain an intriguing mystery. .
