Author: Title: Princeton Quadrangle Club: Constitution, Rules, Officers and Members 1922
Description: Princeton, Club House, 1922. Hardcover. 16mo. Blue cloth with gilt front board lettering. 90pp. Frontispiece. Very good. Quite minor binding wear only, else tight and internally near fine; a couple leaves faintly age toned from long-ago newsprint contact. Future Illinois govenor, twice Democratic presidential candidate and U.S. ambassador Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65) attended Princeton as a literature and history major from 1919 to 1922 -- and in this the 22-year-old's graduation year he appears among the Board of Trustees as Secretary, appearing several more times throughout the text. The Princeton Quadrangle Club, known simply as "Quad," was and still is an eating club at Princeton. Although not signed, this was Stevenson's personal copy of this book and hails from the library of his son, Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. senator from Illinois (1969-81). One of the earliest, if not THE earliest, appearance of his name in print. .
