Very good. Binding edgeworn and scuffed, mostly along spine; calf spine label partial; couple ownership signatures and jottings on inner flyleaf; small convent name inkstamped at bottom of title page and one text page, with their small circular paper shelf label near spine foot. Early printing of this "Sample Letters on Different Topics," entirely in French, from this genre once popular among a newly-literate public engaged in letter writing. Apparently first published in 1762 and generally considered as authored by Louis Philipon de la Madelaine, this second edition ("Nouvelle Edition, Augmentée") was followed by other editions in 1774, 1776 and 1782. .
