Author: BOGUE, Donald L., ARRIAGA, Eduardo E., and ATHERTON, Douglas L. (project editors) Title: Readings in Population Research Methodology
Description: Chicago, Social Development Center, 1993. Paperback. Edited by George W. Rumsey. Complete 8-volume set. 4to. Stiff pale blue wrappers. Varying paginations (most volumes ca. 300pp). Numerous tables and figures. Very good. Bit of mild fading to spines, else all are tight and quite nice. First edition, tight and attractive, of this hefty set published for the United Nations Population Fund. Full set in nice condition of this massive demographic compilation by a "Who's Who" of academics in this field. The primary contributor was the prolific, pioneering American sociologist and demographer Bogue (1918-2014). He boldly signs the title page of each volume in blue fineline, with brief inscription to a long-time staffer. Volume 1 covers "Basic Tools," then (in volume order) "Mortality Research," "Fertility Research," "Nuptiality, Migration, Household, and Family Research," "Population Models, Projections and Estimates," "Advanced Basic Tools," "Contraception and Family Planning" and "Environment and Economy." Very scarce. .
