HUXLEY, Aldous - Point Counter Point

Title: Point Counter Point
Description: New York, The Modern Library, n.y. Hardcover. 12mo. Light grey cloth with gilt lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 514pp, (8pp ads). Grey decorative endpapers. Near fine/near fine. Faintest of jacket wear to edges; ownership signature on half-title page and top of one text page. Handsome and tight later (late 1950s) printing of Modern Library #180, first published by them in 1930 -- the British novelist's long 1928 "novel of ideas." This copy bears a choice autograph addition: In 1968 BBC brought out a mini-series version, and this copy bears both a signature and an Autograph Note Signed from one of its co-stars. DAVID COLLINGS (1940-2020) portrays distraught intellectual Maurice Spandrell, and tipped to the blank leaf facing the title page is a unique frontispiece, a fine heavy stock 5" X 3" card boldly signed by Collings in black fineline, which he dates 10 September 1986 at upper right. In addition, tipped to inner flyleaf is an admirer's typed note (folded in half) to Collings; the actor writes "P.T.O." (Please Turn Over) on this, and upon opening he writes a cordial note: "Thank you for your letter, & apologies for replying on the back side of it but this is written in great haste.." and again signed. Laid in is the perfect bookmark: Collings’ original transmittal envelope. .
