Spotting to top page edges, else binding tight and handsome; jacket a tad edgeworn with spine lightly sunned and couple of archivally closed (on verso) tears. Just a book club edition of these profiles of 14 of the greatest fighter aces -- with choice autograph addition: Tipped to front flyleaf is a fine, heavy stock 5" X 3" card signed large and bold in blue fineline by Johnnie Johnson, who dates it 7 November 1988 at upper right. Tipped in above this is a fine 5" X 3¼" printed "With the Compliments of / Air Vice Marshal Johnson" slip. Laid in is the ideal bookmark: Johnson's original transmittal envelope. Johnson (1915-2001) was the Royal Air Force officer who brought down 34 Nazi fighter planes during the war, making him one of the highest-scoring British aces ever. .
