At present the film play based on the book is being shot in the Virgin Islands, where 200 Navy ships and some 10,000 Marines are on maneuvers. It will be wide screen Vista-Vision in technicolor and should give a beautifully accurate picture of the ship-to-shore movements. Needless to say, there are the usual story and character changes usually associated with such a production.." He goes on to note "I am busy, nearing the finish of my next book, STRANGER TO THE SHORE, which will also be published by Little, Brown," and ends on a personal note: "This fall I'm taking my family to Kauai Island in the Hawaii group, where the kids will attend school while Papa tries a hand on a book based on experiences there some twenty-five years ago, when we blasted reefs and built a new harbor at Nawiliwili." Boldly signed in full. An exceptional letter written shortly after publication of his best-known book and offering interesting details about the film version. .
