LAPLAGNE-BARRIS, Raymond-Jean-Francois-Marie Lacave (1786-1857) - Autograph Letter Signed

Title: Autograph Letter Signed
Description: King Louis Philippe of France so trusted this confidant that he named him one of his executors and also entrusted him with administering the property of his son; one of the leading legal figures of France, among other high-level posts he served as attorney general in Metz and was eventually named attorney general at the Cour de Cassation (the court of final appeal) from 1824 to 1844. ALS in French (not translated), 3pp (lettersheet) + integral address leaf, 7" X 9¼", Paris, France, 24 January 1823. Addressed to "Mon cher oncle" -- presumably his uncle Barris, who raised him and was advisor to the Court of Cassation and baron of the Empire. Very good. Minor edgewear and light age toning. Boldly penned in his small script and signed "J.L. Laplagne" at the close. Comes with a delightful purple paper folder with quaint hand-lettered label from the French collection in which it once resided. .
