Description: This popular British journalist was a member of the British peerage -- but was often heard to say "Call me Don!" He married his second wife, the former Mrs. Douglas McKenzie, in 1968. Christmas card, heavy stock 6" X 8", London, n.y. [ca. 1970]. Fine. Front panel is a color photograph captioned "The Speech from the Throne" shows Queen Elizabeth II in regal attire which caption on verso describes as "The Queen reading the Speech from the Throne at the Opening of the second session of the forty-second Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on 1st November, 1960. This was the first occasion when the Opening of Parliament was televised." Right inner panel is partly printed and features the "House of Lords" insignia in red at the top. The Marquess writes "For Beth" at upper left in red fineline. Below the crest in black is the printed message, "Best wishes for Christmas / and the New Year / from" -- and below this the Marquess writes "With Affection / Don" and below this his wife adds "and Maureen." The London address of "Lord Donegall's Office" is printed in black at lower left. Recipient "Beth" was likely the name of a nursemaid who assisted Prince Andrew's childhood nanny, Mabel Anderson. Intriguing and unusual. .
