Edgeworn, with spine a bit rough and showing tiny chips, but overall tight and quite handleable. Attractive copy of this quaint reader that features three small engravings one atop another running down the center of each page, with column at left of each image bearing eight relevant French words and column at right bearing the same eight words in English. First comes a two-page crash course on the French alphabet and basic pronunciation. Edition uncertain, for while title page bears 1853 date -- same as all other copies referenced -- the identical front wrapper bears 1852 date. A very scarce survivor, in any case. .
