Front pastedown bears the owl-theme bookplate of Daniel Henry Holmes Ingalls (1916-99), noted Sanskrit scholar and long-time Professor of Sanskrit at Harvard University, well known for translating Sanskrit court poetry into English. De la Mare (1873-1956) was an incredibly prolific English poet, novelist, critic and short story writer, often remembered for his many collections of children's verse -- of which this is a choice example. .
