Description: The versatile Oscar and Tony winning actor with the sad sack face appeared in dozens of films and on stage for a half century, but is always remembered for portraying sloppy Oscar Madison in Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple" both on the stage (with Art Carney as Felix Ungar) in 1965 and on the screen (with Jack Lemmon) in 1968. Large and bold signature in black ballpoint on a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, dated by him 1 December 1974 at upper right. Fine. With original transmittal envelope. Accompanied by a fine glossy black-and-white 8" X 10" photograph, a still scene from "Odd Couple" showing Matthau as Oscar in t-shirt and baseball cap on the telephone, glaring menacingly -- probably toward Felix. .
