Description: Boston, Marlier, Callanan, & Company, 1900. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Olive green cloth with gilt lettering and red rules. x, 480pp. Tissue-guarded frontispiece, 17 full-page plates. Very good. While tight and text block clean and sharp, binding (only) is edgeworn and a but rubbed; nonauthorial 1900 gift inscription on front flyleaf, with second gift inscription "To Sister Samuel / from / W.I. Rick[illegible] O.P." Later (6th) printing of the most popular, autobiographical novel by Canon Sheehan (1852-1913), the well-known Irish Catholic priest and author. The half dozen printings within a short time and gift inscription from a Dominican priest attests to its popularity among clerics -- many more printings were to follow!.
