Jacket slightly edgeworn and a tad rubbed, with single archivally-closed (on verso) edge tear. Tight and nice later printing of this (to cite jacket front) "memoirs of a cub reporter in Chicago by the prolific playwright, journalist, novelist, scriptwriter, director and producer" (1894-1964). A fictionalized film version was released in 1969, and this unique copy bears bold signatures of two figures from that comedy tipped to the front flyleaf on fine, matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards. At top is NORMAN JEWISON (1926-2024, the film's director), who signs in black ballpoint and dates it 27 June 1968 at upper right; below this is MELINA MERCOURI (1920-94, who portrays Lilan), who signs in black ballpoint (undated, but 25 January 1971). Laid in are both original transmittal envelopes. An unusual, interesting copy. .
