Quite minor binding edgewear, mainly at spine head and tail; 1897 ownership signature on front pastedown, with a few math calculations from same on facing flyleaf; text block lightly to moderately foxed. A tight and nice first edition of this regimental history of the famed unit mustered in on September 2, 1862 and discharged on June 12, 1865, seeing notable action in the Battles of Stone's River, Kennesaw Mountain, Jonesboro, Franklin and Nashville as well as the Siege of Chattanooga. "Dodge was not even a member of the unit hereof he wrote," comments James I. Robertson Jr. "still, his personal experiences as a soldier in the Western theater have some merit." Scarce.
