Author: STEVENSON, Robert Louis Title: Two Mediaeval Tales
Description: New York, The Limited Editions Club, 1929. Hardcover. Introduction by Clayton Hamilton. Illustrations by C.B. Falls. Small 4to. Blue cloth with NO lettering whatsoever. 67pp. Color illustrations and rubricated capitals. Very good. Spine rather sunned, as are edges, else tight and internally fine. A tight and nice copy of the sixth title in the LEC's first series, it includes the stories "A Lodging for the Night" and "The Sire de Maletroit's Door." The fact that this copy is not bound in the full calf of all other copies but in blue cloth bearing no titling whatsoever and bearing unnumbered colophon suggests this was an editor's copy of some sort produced before the binding for the edition had been decided. Colophon at rear notes 1500 numbered copies (this copy unnumbered) signed boldly by illustrator Falls -- whose rubricated capitals and full-page color plates are quite striking. NEWMAN 6. .
