Quite attractive first edition of the first (out of three) novel by this Scottish-American writer (1895-1987) -- whose husband happened to be co-publisher Smith. A dramatic tragedy set in a wee Sco'ish village, with killer Art Deco-ish jacket front panel featuring a striking closeup of the lead character. Rather scarce. .
