Author: WILSON, Woodrow Title: The Road Away from Revolution
Description: Stamford, CT, The Overbrook Press, 1957. Paperback. Small 8vo. Wrappers. (3pp). Near fine. The "Atlantic Monthly" first published former president Wilson's penultimate printed work in their August 1923 issue and again as a separate, then in honor of the centennial of his 1856 birth the fine press Overbrook produced this handsome reprint decades later. Interesting association copy, this being the personal copy of Wilson's staunchest admirer, fellow Princeton alumni Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), Illinois governor and twice Democratic presidential candidate - fresh after his landslide defeat to Eisenhower on November 6, 1956. "ACK-D" lightly inkstamped on front wrapper, Stevenson's office thus noting its receipt having been "acknowledged." From library of his son, Adlai E. Stevenson III (1930-2021), U.S. Senator from Illinois (1969-81). .
