Author: DIMOCK, Marshall E. Title: Wilson the Domestic Reformer
Description: N.p. The Virginia Quarterly Review, 1956. Paperback. Small 4to. Self-cover, stapled. Pp. 546-565. Very good. Bit of age toning to outer leaves (only) and light edgewear. Reprint of this article from the Autumn 1956 issue (Volume 32, Number 4) of this scholarly quarterly, inkstamped "With the Compliments / of the Author" at upper left of top leaf and as sent to then-current Democratic presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), former Illinois governor running for the second time against Dwight D. Eisenhower. Stevenson, like Wilson, was a Princeton graduate and was a great admirer of the Democratic 28th U.S. president (who also served as Princeton's 13th president) -- no doubt why Dimock sent him this offprint. Stevenson, who would lose his second presidential bid by a landslide on November 6th, certainly did read this article -- his pencilled margin squiggles appear occasionally throughout. .
