Pristine second printing of this "Winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize" and boldly inscribed and signed by the Michigan-born poet, writer and novelist (born 1938) in black fineline on the title page: "To Bill / fellow poet / onward, Gary / 27 Oct. 2000 / Cedal Falls"; he also signs in fill, large and bold, on the title page. Bill Pauly (1942-2021) was a long-time English professor at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and poet especially well known for his haikus. .
