Minor slipcase wear and age toning. Superb, tight LEC production of the British writer's popular 1929 novel, quickly retitled "A High Wind in Jamaica" -- first title in the LEC's 16th series and featuring outstanding illustrations by legendary artist and graphic novelist Ward (1905-85). Not only that, but this special copy bears two choice autograph additions: Tipped to front flyleaf are two fine, matching heavy stock 5" X 3" cards signed boldly in black ballpoint by two stars of the 1965 film version. At top is English novelist/writer MARTIN AMIS (1949-2013, who plays John Thornton); at upper right he dates it 5 June 1987. Below this is ISABEL DEAN (1918-97, who plays John Thornton's mother Alice); at upper right she dates it 18 January 1983. Rear colophon notes limitation of 1,500 numbered copies (this #241) signed by artist Ward. Laid in are the perfect bookmarks: Amis and Dean's original transmittal envelopes; also laid in is the relevant "Monthly Letter." NEWMAN 165. .
