Slipcase a tad rough but archivallymended and strengthened, thus quite decent. Tight and bright copy of this verse collection whose colophon notes limitation of 330 numbered copies (this #250). Front pastedown bears the bookplate of noted American book designer Lester Douglas (1893-1961). Brownell (1820-72) was a poet and historian who served as Admiral Farragut's personal secretary during the Civil War; he is best known for his war poems, and Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. once called him "Our Battle Laureate." The often-absemt slipcase is present and in fairly attractive condition. .
