Philip L. Gerber (1923-2005) -- "Gene" was his wife Eugenia -- was a noted English professor at the State University of New York at Brockport and author of several academic titles, including studies of Theodore Dreiser and Willa Cather in the popular "Twayne's United States Authors Series."
