Mardikian (1903-77) was an Armenian-American chef, restaurateur and author who opened the famous Omar Khayyam's in San Francisco in 1938 and was responsible for popularizing Armenian food in the U.S. Front pastedown bears elegant bookplate of the recipient, Deane Waldo Malott (1898-1996), a noted academic administrator and educator who served as assistant dean at Harvard Business School, chancellor of University of Kansas and president of Cornell University. .
