Author: LAWRENCE, D.H. Title: The Hopi Snake Dance
Description: Flagstaff, The Peccary Press, 1980. Hardcover. Foreword by Linda Laird and David Laird. Small 4to. Brown paper over boards, plain white dust jacket (as issued). ix, 29pp. Fine/fine. Superb first of this fine press edition, being an essay first published in the December 1924 issue of "Theatre Arts Monthly," followed by two other magazine appearances and first in book form as a chapter in "Mornings in Mexico" (1927). Colophon at rear notes limitation of 150 numbered copies (this #71) signed boldly in blue ink by David Laird. The plain white dust jacket has had the author's name and title neatly inked onto the spine -- in the same unusual funky burgundy ink as is the book's limitation number, leading one to suspect this hand-lettered jacket spine was accomplished by the same person. .
