Author: SOLTI, Georg (1912-97) Title: Photograph Signed
Description: The distinguished Hungarian-born conductor became a British citizen and was knighted in 1972, yet it was as conductor and music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra that he achieved greatest reknown; 22 is not only the number of years he was with the CSO -- it is the number of Grammy Awards he collected. PS, glossy 3½" X 5½", n.p. n.y. Fine. Informal head-and-shoulders shot of an enigmatically smiling Solti in white shirt and tie, signed by him large and bold in blue ballpoint near lower left. Accompanied by a printed "With Sir Georg Solti's Compliments" slip of same size (London address) and original transmittal envelope (postally cancelled in South Kensington, U.K. on 10 March 1977 but on envelope he swiped from Vienna's tony Hotel Imperial). Quite choice. .
