DOYLE, A. Conan (

Title: The Stark Munro Letters: Being a Series of Twelve Letters Written by J. Stark Munro, M.B. , to His Friend and Former Fellow-Student, Herbert, Swanborough, of Lowell, Massachusetts, During the Years 1881-1884
Description: New York, D. Appleton and Company, 1895. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Burgundy cloth with silver lettering and gilt and silver decoration. 385pp, (6pp ads). Frontispiece, 7 full-page called-for plates. Very good. Quite minor mottling to binding, which shows very faint spine sunning, else tight and internally nice. Attractive second edition of this epistolary novel about a young med school graduate (Doyle's trade) attempting to establish a medical practice with a challenging partner -- quite autobiographical! Interesting, unusual ephemera laid in: Printed 3¼" X 5½" Appleton leaflet highlighting "Standard Fiction" on one side (starting with this title and also Doyle's "Round the Red Lamp") and various other titles on verso. .
