Title: Mr. Lincoln Goes to Washington -- in Disguise
Description: Dayton, OH, Geo. A. Pflaum, Publisher, Inc, 1961. Paperback. Illustrations by Lloyd Ostendorf. Small 4to. Stiff glossy pictorial wrappers. 34pp. Numerous color illustrations. Very good. Minor wear to outer wrappers and text block lightly age toned as expected. Nice, bright copy of Volume 16, No. 16 (April 13, 1961) of the bi-weekly comic book "Treasure Chest of Fun & Fact," a thinly-veiled religious publication -- Pflaum also published the "Young Catholic Messenger," "Junior Catholic Messenger" and other Catholic comic books. The Lincoln tale is the "cover story" and fills the first nine pages only, the remainder being action and adventures, often with religious overtones. The fact that Pflaum published from Dayton explains why local nationally-renowned Lincoln artist Ostendorf provides the imagery (for this story only). Unusual -- and just for fun this issue is accompanied by a second issue, that of 27 September 1962 (Vol. 18, No. 2), whose sole Lincoln content is a front cover Ostendorf illustration. .
