Tissue-guarded frontispiece, full-page plates and numerous small illustrations, floral endpapers. Very good. Spine head/tail lightly edgeworn but binding overall sharp, with all gilt bright; nonauthorial 1890 gift inscription on inner flyleaf; preliminary leaves a bit age toned and rear endpaper rubbed and scuffed, else tight and nice. Attractive second edition of a text first published by D.L. Guernsey of Boston in 1884. Fascinating look into the lives of homeless, destitute children in later 19th century America by this noted reverend and writer (1840-1092). .
