Addressed to Marshall Bean. Fine. On imprinted "from the desk of Louis Untermeyer" stationery, the prolific poet/anthologist/essayist/translator/critic/editor (1885-1977) writes cordially to a Maine educator that "I regret that I cannot write the poem you request. What with a crowded desk and on overcrowded mind, I am hard put to get away for a short respite.." Boldly signed in blue ballpoint. .
