Author: KINER, Ralph (1922-2014) Title: Typed Quotation Signed
Description: This outfielder debuted with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1946-53) and also played for the Chicago Cubs (1953-54) and Cleveland Indians (1955) before starting a successful career as sports broadcaster, first with the Chicago White Sox and elsewhere until 2013. TQS, heavy stock 6" X 4" card, n.p. n.y. Fine. Card prepared by an admirer and boldly signed by Kiner at center in black ballpoint. At top is typed Kiner's sentiment that "I think one of the most difficult things for anyone who has played baseball is to accept the fact that maybe the players today are playing just as well as ever," and at bottom is typed his well-known malaprop: "If Casey Stengel were alive today, he'd be spinning in his grave." A fun piece and, though not dated, likely signed in the 1980s. .
