Spine faintly sunned; internally tight and fine; jacket complete and attractive, with a few edge chips. A tight, attractive early (not first) printing of this biography of the early French Jesuit missionary who explored the Mississippi River and founded Michigan's first European settlement -- and tipped to half-title page is a large, bold signature of Repplier in brown ink on a 4½" X 1" slip. On facing blank inner flyleaf is an Autograph Letter Signed from Agnes' older sister, Mary Repplier (1851-1946): 1p (lettersheet), 4½" X 7", Philadelphia, PA, n.d. Fine. Addressed to Albert Johannsen (1871-1962), a University of Chicago geology professor who authored "The House of Beadle and Adams and Its Dime and Nickel Novels" (University of Oklahoma Press, 1950), the definitive reference work and bibliography on the subject. Mary writes, "My sister Agnes Repplier has gone been abroad for over a year & in her absence her letters come to me. I enclose you an autograph of my sister not being able to accommodate you with an autograph note.." Tipped to front flyleaf is a "Compliments / of the / AUTHOR" heavy stock 3½" X 2" card. .
