Attractive and interesting edition of one of the compilation volumes of the popular satire in epic Biblical style, with much Lincoln and Civil War commentary. The 1863 first book spawned three sequels -- "Book Second" later the same year, "Book Third" in 1864 and "Book Fourth" in 1866, the tentralogy then published together in one volume in 1866. This may be the 1877 edition noted by Monaghan in #260, though not dated such and published without the 4-page "additional preface" found there (in which White denies authorship).HOWES W368.
