This copy with fine autograph addition: Tipped to inside front wrapper is a Typed Letter Signed from McMurtry, 1p, 8¼" X 11", Fort Wayne, IN, 8 March 1956. Addressed to noted Lincoln scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93). Near fine. On "The Lincoln National Life Foundation" pictorial letterhead citing him as director, Warren tells his New York friend "I cannot see why that the high school students of New York City who join in the pilgrimage to Cooper Institute on Lincoln's birthday should not receive the little recognition certificates which we issue although they are made out to Boy Scouts. At least some recognition should be given them for making the pilgrimage.." Signed boldly in full in blue ballpoint. Warren was the renowned Lincoln historian and museum director (1885-1983) -- later this Fort Wayne institution renamed their library the Louis A. Warren Lincoln Library Museum. .
