Given the tiny bookseller's ticket of Flor & Findel in Florence at lower right of front pastedown, the ownership signature on front flyleaf (dated Florence, September 1900) is no doubt that of an Anglo experiencing the fabled Grand Tour. Uncommon. Freeman (1823-92), who also published a similar travel book about Greece, was a prolific British historian and politician. .
