A handsome first edition of this rather scarce far-ranging account of the American and British cattle ranchers and breeders who supplied Chicago's (in)famous stock yards, published in the years following Upton Sinclaur's 1906 blockbuster "The Jungle" when the federal government was trying to clean up and regulate Chicago's meat-packing industry.
