Author: MONTGOMERY, Richard R. Title: The Boss of the Messenger Boys; or, Born to Good Luck
Description: New York, Frank Tousey, Publisher, 1907. Paperback. April 10, 1907 edition (No. 462) of "Pluck and Luck: Complete Stories of Adventure." 4to. Pictorial color wrappers. 29pp, (3pp ads). Good plus. Almost rates "Very good," for outer wrappers are rather bright but lightly edgeworn; inner text pages moderately age toned and a bit delicate as usual. A tight and nice issue of this adventure weekly. Lovely chromolithograph front wrapper depicts a policeman aiding a woman collapsed on the sidewalk of a bustling Manhattan street while a white-bearded tophatted gent attacks on onlooker with his cane. Caption below reads: "He rushed to the assistance of the blind girl, and raised her up, saying: 'It's me, Jennie, Mike, on de top floor, don't yer know? Here's your cent. Never mind de bloke. He's no good. You'll only get into trouble if you say any more.'" A tight 'n' bright example with delightful front wrapper graphics. A far better than average dime novel (actually, "Price 5 Cents") or "penny dreadful," with text printed in two columns. .
