Description: This popular American composer of hundreds of songs and dozens of musicals is often remembered for such hits as "Over There," "Give My Regards to Broadway" and "You're a Grand Old Flag"; he was also a versatile actor, playwright, singer, dancer and producer; in the year of his death he was portrayed by James Cagney in the film "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and later memorialized in the 1968 musical "George M!" Printed DS, 1p, 6" X 3½" pale pink stock, New York, NY, 22 January 1917. Near fine. Faint age toning. Printed receipt for dues payment from "Pacific Lodge No. 233, F. & A.M." (Free and Accepted Masons). Cohan signs bold and in full in dark brown ink near the top center as "Life Member," also noting his yearly dues payment: "1.40." An interesting and unusual example, accompanied by a 10" X 8" modern reprint black-and-white glossy photograph showing Cohan in later years dealing cards. .
