NORRIS, Stanley - The Young Showman's Rivals or Ups and Downs of the Road

Title: The Young Showman's Rivals or Ups and Downs of the Road
Description: Philadelphia, David McKay, Publisher, n.y. Hardcover. 12mo. Light green cloth with dark green lettering and dark green, bright green and orange pictorial stamping. ii, 310pp. Very good/good plus. Jacket rather edgeworn (mainly at spine head and tail) and lightly age toned and soiled; though internally near fine, binding a bit edgeworn and age toned. Tight, attractive later printing of the second title in the "Circus Series," first published in 1903. Rear jacket panel lists six titles in this series, which dates this to the late teens (as a pencilled Christmas 1918 nonauthorial gift inscription on front flyleaf confirms). Fun front board graphic shows an elephant in profile standing atop a tiny platform, a clown peeking out from between the animal's legs; along the top appears a vast white tent with many flags flying. Very uncommon in a dust jacket. .
