A tight and quite nice early (not first) printing of this largely pictorial study -- with interesting provenance: Front flyleaf bears the rubber-stamped ownership signature of Illinois governor and twice Democratic presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65). After losing his second bid for the presidency to Eisenhower, Stevenson made a heavily publicized world tour that included Africa and a visit with Albert Schweitzer. Though a rubberstamped signature, still an unusual association copy. .
