On the blank verso of a preprinted reservation card for a 11 September 1962 meeting of the Civil War Round Table of New York (which Fowler signs in black ballpoint), he writes to noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93), long-time CWRT officer, about various Round Table matters. Signed simply "Bob" in red ballpoint. Fowler (1926-2002) was a Civil War historian and author of the novel "Jim Mundy: A Novel of the American Civil War. .
