Author: DRINKWATER, John (1882-1937) Title: Typed Note Signed
Description: Popular and prolific English poet, author, biographer and playwright who frequently used historical figures as the focus of plays such as "Abraham Lincoln" (1918), "Oliver Cromwell" (1921), "Mary Stuart" (1921) and "Robert E. Lee" (1923). TNS, 1p, 8" X 5", London, England, 1928 October 30. Addressed to author Preston Nolan. Near fine. On his embossed 44 Evelyn Gardens letterhead (which he's crossed out and penned in "2, Cathcart Road"), a baffled Drinkwater struggles to find something to say about a book sent him by the author: "Thank you for sending me your book 'Business First'. I find myself rather lost among these high affairs, but you certainly present a case with point and energy." Usual tiny but bold signature. .
