Title: Virginia Takes the Road to Revolution
Description: N.p. N.p. n.y. Paperback. Small 8vo. Stiff tan wrappers. Pp. 101-135. Very good. Mild wear and age toning to outer wrappers (only). A tight and nice and quite bibliographically-challenged offprint which notes only that it is a "Reprint from The Spirit of '76" -- presumably "The Spirit of '76 and Other Essays" compiled by Carl Becker, J.M. Clark and Dodd and published by the Robert Brookings Graduate School of Economics and Government in Washington, DC in 1927. Dodd (1869-1940) is best remembered as a University of Chicago history professor, but also penned a book about Woodrow Wilson (among others) and actually served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 1933 to 1937. Does the complete lack of bibliographical detail suggest that a small number of these may have been printed for Dodd himself for distribution to friends and colleagues? Very uncommon, in any case. .
