A tight, handsome early printing of #61 -- first published in this form in 1932, but here undated and with publisher's sticker on front flap noting "As of April 15, 1947, the price of The Modern Library in U.S.A. is $1.25 a copy.." -- this despite Toledano's "Price Chronology" citing 1948 as the year that $1.25 became the standard price. From library of academic and literary critic Joseph J. Waldmeir (1923-2013), with his 6" X 4" index card of pencilled notes about this title and folded 8½" X 11" mimeographed sheet headed "William Faulkner / Recent Books and Articles" (ca. 1951) presumably from a graduate course. .
